Calling all growing Equine Artists! Boy, do we have the group for you! Have you ever been wanting to enhance your ability for drawing horses? Are you hoping to take the next step on your journey to developing your own Equine style? #Equine-Critique is a group dedicated to helping you improve and grow in your (horsey) artistic ability!
What IS a Critique?
A critique is a thoughtful in depth response of an image that fairly explains both the positive AND the negative sides of the image. Be prepared to get more than just praise and "I love it"'s on your work, some critics are more 'heavy' than others, and some are a bit more 'easy going'. When you submit your image to be critiqued, expect a response that is approximately 1-5 paragraphs. Please specify in your submission what you would like to have the focus of the critique be: If you know your anatomical execution is a bit awry, but you're looking for shading input, let us know so we can tell you what you need and leave out what you already know! A quality critique also takes style and personal flare into account*. Our admins are going to skim through the newest items in your gallery to get a feel for your style and technique.
We do accept all mediums of work be that digital, paintings, photography, pencils, anything you have! We also accept both finished AND Work-In-Progress (WIP) images, just submit to the appropriate folder.
However, we do NOT accept stolen, inappropriate, or traced images!** We also do not accept lineart or coloring book style drawings. All work must be 100% your own!
* We LOVE to see stylized artists, however, there is a fine line between personal style and laziness. Do not blame any anatomical errors on "personal style" if you don't have the basics down. The ideal artist will have the core elements of art down and settled before considering adding personal style to the mix, this is a common mistake MANY people make every day.
** Do not be afraid to attempt to submit traced images, however, do not expect to get a very pleasant critique in response. When what you're submitting is basically a lazy photograph, there's not much to critique. If you do submit, please state that you are interested in critique only on the shading and coloring, for example.
